In referencing a highly esteemed historian, Dr. John Henrik Clarke, Dr. Cohen reminds us that “History IS a CURRENT event. “

“The massacre of 1906 ended up polarizing or segregating the blacks and whites in Atlanta more than what it was before. On the Monday following the massacre, after black and white business leaders met, they decided that the black and white communities should be totally separate, along with their businesses. That is how areas like Auburn Avenue and Decatur Street developed into better economic “pockets” for blacks.”
— Horace Henry

“African Americans were resilient during the race massacre of 1906, and they STILL are resilient today”
— Dr. Clarissa Myrick-Harris
